Free Career Information

Norman Said:

Where can I find free information on Diplomatic and International Translation as a career?

We Answered:

Even in the UN, competence can win over connections. Anyway, why not apply? The worst that can happen is that somebody says no.

However, you need to know that embassies very, very rarely employ full-time translators. Usually the diplomats who meet with the local government figures speak the language; if one (perhaps the ambassador) doesn't, a protocol or political local employee who is also extremely knowledgeable about the topic will attend a meeting and will help when necessary.

Here is the web site for UN and related job openings:

Julian Said:

career information free?

We Answered:

If you are asking about what field will help you to make the most amount of money, then I would say communication and networking, because two areas of science are still expanding rapidly, meaning the chance to move up are probably greater.

However, if you are asking which one you will like most, or enjoy as a career, this is something that no one but you can answer, as it will be the job you have to go to day in and day out, for years.

Good luck!
