Holland Career Test
Jose Said:
How do I choose a major in college if my choice majors don't match my personality? We Answered:
If that test suggested things to you that you hadn't considered and that, when you did look into them, seemed like good ideas to you, I would think the test had been useful. If the test tells you that the things that you are interested in aren't good matches for your personality, I would not bother to listen to the test.
Have you looked into advertising and public relations? (I mean, more than just watching "Mad Men." :) ) Does it interest you? Can you see yourself enjoying helping to sell a product or a person or whatever even if you don't agree that it really is the best thing out there?
I knew a guy once who, about 3 1/2 years into an advertising major, quit in rage because, as he said, "My professors make advertising seem so COMMERCIAL!!" His personality probably didn't fit advertising (or something like that). But if you know what the major is really about and what kind of work graduates are really likely to be asked to do, I think you should trust yourself more than the Holland Code. It's not infallible. Even if most people who answer a lot of the questions on that test the way you did would not like advertising, that doesn't necessarily mean that you won't like it either.

What careers would be a good fit for someone who's Holland Interests are Artistic, Investigative, and Social? We Answered:
photography, advertising, or a writerDoris Said:
Personality type? Brain mode?We Answered:
No, I don't think any test of IQ, personality, etc. is accurate. There are too many variables and we're not all black and white. Now career tests can be quite good but only for the time period in which you take it. People's interests change over time.
Don't know about the specific types.
I'm supposed to be equally left and right brained. It just means you are creative at times and logical at times. Sometimes they overlap. You can develop either or both sides by doing puzzles or by stimulating your creative side.
