Job Aptitude Tests

Dennis Said:

I have a computer aptitude test for a job interview. What should I know?

We Answered:

don't worry you'll do fine,

basically you will be tested for your typing speed, how to save a file and locate it,.. elementary stuff,...

the company just wants to "test" or "classify" your computer skills. don't sweat it,.. anything specific you need to know, you'll learn in training

Leslie Said:

what site provides job aptitude test, and no charge, no registration?

We Answered:

I don't know of any test that doesn't at least require registration, but the registration can be as anonymous as taking the test in the first place.

You can give a fake name, and you can sign up for an email address at any free email place, and give all fake info there, too. I have one of those that I only use for when I need to register for things that I figure are going to generate junk mail. That way I can get the "results" of the tests, or the registration confirmation, or whatever, but I don't generate any junk in my regular email account.

But there are plenty with no charge, at least for the basic results. http://web.tickle.com/tests/talent/index… is one (thought somewhat simple) that is easy and free. They'll try to get you to pay for the extended results, but you still get some info for free.

My personal favorite is the MAPP test. You have to sign up, but of course, just because they ask for all your info, doesn't mean you have to give it accurately. You can find the MAPP test at http://www.assessment.com/ . The MAPP folks do want to make a living, and will try to sell you a variety of upgrades (which do seem to be worthwhile, if you ever decide to put some money into this) but you don't have to spend any to get the basics. And the basics are definitely worthwhile.

Finally, here is a page that discusses some issues about job/career aptitude tests. It is written for "moms" returning to the job market, but most of the info is accurate for anyone trying to figure out which way to turn for a job:
