Myers Briggs Test Career

Joyce Said:

How much stock do you take in personality tests like the Myers-Briggs?

We Answered:

INFJ here:
You seem to already understand- right-no one can fit their exact type.

To better understand the thing- it's best to categorize.

When I try to discuss a hot button topic with someone- I always try to get to the basic concept and boil it down. After I get to this basic concept, I then want to add the "what-ifs" the "butt-ifs" to the mix to see how the basic concept holds up.

The 4 letter code is the basic concept boiled down- but no one is exactly that- so now all the extras can be added that make you as a person.

it's a tool to understand the basic concepts- and that is what I use it for.

Also- if you read too much into the questions- you might have answered them not as the asker intended.

While I am at heart, and INFJ-- I have shifted to more of an ESTJ when I was a supervisor at work.

I changed jobs and have now shifted towards INTJ due to the requirements to think logically at my new job.

So- the two reasons I think you didn't code out as you expected is this:

1.)You ARE an INFJ, but your current life demands are forcing you to act like an ISTJ. If left to your own devices, you would probably act like the infj you are

2.)You over thought the questions, and answered them other then how the test creators intended.

Robert Said:

How can my Myers-Briggs results help me in college and in the future?

We Answered:

The Myers-Briggs test tells you your unconscious preferences. You prefer introversion, sensing, feeling, and judging. But really, the best way to pick a major/career is through your conscious preferences. What do you like to do? What are you good at? Those should be your main questions.

That said, ISFJ suggests you might enjoy a career like carpentry, welding, or architecture.

Cory Said:

how accurate is the myers-briggs test?

We Answered:

I haven't taken the Myers-Briggs personality test, but I found this one to be very accurate, my English 20 class took it, and about 70% of the class found it to relate almost perfectly to them. I was one of that 70% and I was quite impressed by the accuracy when it described me as an INFP.

Try it out.
