I have a doctorate in social psychology. For awhile I was a freelance trial consultant, assisting attorneys with jury selection and trial preparation strategies. Then I went into research, working in labor market information and then I went into higher education research and am Director of Research, evaluation, assessment and planning at a local community college. An advanced degree in social psych can be parlayed into many interesting careers as long as you have a solid foundation in research methodology and statistics. Another interesting career path would be industrial/organizational psychology, closely related to social/personality. Many large organizations hire these folks to help with their internal personnel management, groups, etc. It's a great field, in my opinion.
