Personality And Careers

Any careers involving personality disorders? We Answered:
I worked on a locked ward in a State psychiatric hospital for 5 years, with a variety of professionals and unskilled workers. Any electives you can take in high school having to do with psychology, sociology, and health will be helpful to you.The team of people I worked with were psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, behavior modification program technicians, human services technicians, and recreational therapists, to name a few.
When you are 18 and ready to enter the workforce, you can get an entry level job at a psychiatric hospital as nurse's assistant. The job has various titles, like psychiatric technician, human services assistant, human services technician, etc. It involves performing direct care work, involving assisting psychiatric patients with their personal hygiene, escorting patients to various places, supervising them, helping them to eat, counseling them, recordkeeping, and other things.
Many employers, especially State psychiatric hospitals, have tuition assistance programs. They will either pay for your college education or else contribute to it significantly, in return for your signed contract agreeing to remain employed with them for a specified amount of time, usually a few years.
College courses you can take that will help you in your chosen profession would be things like human services, anatomy and physiology, nursing, sociology, and a variety of psychology courses, incuding basic psychology, abnormal psychology, child psychology, and others.
You should speak to your guidance counselor, who can give you more information about what you can do right now or else in the near future, to help you reach your goal. Work hard to get the best possible grades that you can get, even if you are in junior high school. This will surely help you in whatever occupation you choose.

what types of careers would really interest someone with an INFJ or INFP Personality? We Answered:
INFJs and INFPs both tend to choose careers in one of two broad fields: helping careers (counseling, education, health care) and artistic careers (writing, design, music). Helping occupations are appealing to people of these two types because of their ability to see the potential in other people and their interest in helping others improve their lives. Artistic occupations appeal because they allow these types to express themselves and their creative ideas.Although INFJs and INFPs choose similar careers, INFJs are more likely to prefer a structured environment because of their Judging preference. INFJs prefer a work environment where expectations and standard procedures are fairly clear. For this reason they are more likely to enjoy office work than are INFPs. INFPs prefer a more spontaneous and flexible work environment.
Some top careers for each type:
INFJ:
Social science research assistant
Teacher, high school or college
Writer
Physician assistant
Surgeon
Multimedia artist
Interior designer
Librarian
INFP:
Art director
Social science researcher
Psychiatrist
Veterinary assistant
Musician, composer, singer
Writer, poet, novelist
Craft artist
Special education teacher

What careers match my personality and skill? We Answered:
Have you asked yourself what would I like to do. That's really the best place to start, then investigate what education you need, what the industry for that field is like, what is the pay, job outlook, etc. I got to tell you school isn't anything like the real world. On the job when you can't remember something or aren't sure, you check a book. The good workers know their tools and use them. Exp'd doctors still have to look in books, so no one wanting to do their best and provide accurate information is exempt from this. Personally I think your being to hard on yourself. You said your not good at it, but didn't say you don't want a career in it. Apparently your doing something right since you will be graduating. College gives you a foundation of your field, so when you get out you have knowledge what is required of you - it's really not different than starting at the bottom and working your way up, expect you never get a paper saying your knowledgeable in your field. It's better to understand a process, concept, or theory rather than memorize them. Think about it if you just memorize things your kinda of a robot, so if your just remembering things you will have a harder time applying them in real life. So just make sure you understand the whole process, that way if your forget something you can jog your brain, or use your tools (books, internet, etc.) to get the answer. Also college is stressful, you could just be overwhelmed and have a hard time memorizing right now. Don't sell yourself short and expect more than you need of yourself right now. There's lot of jobs out their your specific skills can be useful in, however w/o any additional information it could be just a list and maybe one that isn't right for you. What I would suggest is talking to your school career counselor, see what your career options are w/the degree your getting, if none of them interest you ask them how else you might be able to apply your degree in a different field. Personally I read your post and you seem down, like your down on yourself and expecting too much of yourself. Know one does well in a job until they have done it for awhile, with or w/o and education. You might find your a great fit for a job in w/your degree and really enjoy it once your see how it is in the real world. I'm not trying to talk you out of other options, I just didn't see you say I don't want to do this, but I don't think I'm good at it. Here is a sites you can look at to scope out other job/career prospects:http://www.bls.gov/OCO/

Hope this helps!

Why do most personality theories begin their careers as psychotherapists? We Answered:
What? That make no sense. Theories don't have careers. Or did I miss some "joke"?Erin Said:
Any ENFP personality types that enjoy their careers? We Answered:
My friend and I are both ENFPs. I'm an Interior Designer and my friend is finishing her Education degree (Secondary English and Social Studies). Other jobs that I've enjoyed - retail in a upscale boutique, receptionist in a salon, veterinarian assistant. Before becoming an interior designer I wanted to be a flight attendant but the airlines weren't hiring so I pursued my degree instead. My friend has a had several jobs working with young kids. I suggest jobs involving - kids, animals, teaching, working with the public, maybe nursing.Good luck!Lance Said:
