Any of the programming/creation requires math, and actually a lot of it. Its for good reason, movement in a video game is actually calculated with matrices.

The benefit to this is you can major in the general field of computer science. You can work on video games but you can also do a LOT of other programming and most areas pay nicely and are not particularly taxing on you (so you can do games on the side).

You might be able to major in marketing, advertising, or project management and try to get into the video game industry that way... Those majors are also applicable in other places so at least you would be able to find work (even if its competitive). What about voice acting or writing? These are a lot less applicable and predictable but you may be able to use them in gaming.
