Don't you ever get discouraged just because your first tries were not successful. You are only 24, your world is ahead of you, and if those companies who declined you don't see travelling the world as an education then, it is not worth working with them.

I see people who have traveled as more open minded, flexible and have a better understanding of other cultures, which is very important in this global business world. Continue to improve your skills by taking evening courses (since you have a full time job) and keep on applying...perhaps you should go for more international companies!!!
