Accounting Employment Agency

Deborah Said:

Is there a maximum percentage an employment agency can take from your paycheck for each hour you work?

We Answered:

They take out the taxes and FICA required by law. They pay you whatever you agreed to when you took the assignment. They then bill the employer and they can charge whatever the agreement was with them - it is not up to you in anyway. The Employment agency has a lot of expenses to cover just for getting you the job. Employers who use agencies pay higher than they pay their own employees because it is cheaper for them than what they must pay for FICA and unemployment, insurance, workmans comp, vacation time and any other benefits.
