It's illegal to discriminate due to age, sex, religion, and a few other situations. Where you currently work is not one of those situations.

If it's not illegal, by definition it IS legal.

In the US a woman over 40 and definitely over 50 has tremendous problems getting employed. Like in your country discrimination by age is not legal, but age discrimination is almost impossible to prove in court, plus it is expensive.

I was over 40 and had just graduated from law school. No firm would hire me as an associate. I sent the same firms letters offering to do the associate job on a temporary basis. They only had to pay be an hourly wage and I took care of my own benefits. I got lots offers and great experience.

My break was by contacting employers directly. I sent a brochure (done on my computer) and a cv. Maybe she can try that instead of going through an agency. I say that because if an employer hires someone through the agency they must pay the agency a fee, if they hire her directly it saves them money.

I wish her the best of luck. I am a lawyer, an author of 5 law books, with great references and to get the job I wanted I had to open my own business.
