I think you should have a have a look at this site, which I don't recommend in any way, I just think that it has information that could be useful to you.

It lists the recruitment companies to avoid but also gives links to all the cruiselines. Applying directly to a cruise line may be a better option for you in the long run.

if you have to pay to be a appre. find out how long you have to do it for first some places have a cut off date then ask for more money or give you the boot,my appre.in 1994 i did not pay for and i DIDNOT get paid by the owner,but i did receive 30-40 dollars a day from the other artists in the shop for tearing down there machines cleaning up there booths and all of the other slave labor jobs that a appre. is responsible to do it's not all glory but you have to crawl before you can walk and run.so investigate some shops even try out of your country like new zealand,japan,guam u.s. good luck and hope it works out for you

Go on the working holiday! I did in Ireland and the UK for a couple of years, it was fantastic.
Otherwise, I don't know where you are in Australia, or if you have any qualifications, but have you tried the mining industry? I live in WA and the industry is in overdrive! I'm a diesel mechanic, but see many people enter the minesite with little or no qualifications, and make a small fortune each week.
Even if you only do it for a year or 2 to get money behind you while you're young, it's well worth it. With the mining boom there is a labour shortage and wages have gone up. Common salaries for operators is often upwards of 100k per year, often with accommodation and food supplied while working. Most jobs are fly in/ out from capital cities, with varying rosters (2 or 3 weeks on, 1 week off for example).
The trouble is you can get addicted to the money. I said I'd do it for 2 years originally, but after 3 years I now own my own house, car etc, and I'm holidaying now. It's hard to leave the money!
That's my advice anyway, I don't know if it's your thing or not, but if you can abide life on a farm, the mining industry will be easy, and a lot more profitable!

I don't know where you are. If you don't know to much about Australian Politics, It's almost impossible to explain. Our Prime Minster Keven Rudd and his wife Tressa, Corrupt as they come, had a good thing going. She didn't care about the people the private agency's sent out to possible Jobs because the agency's doing this were being paid by the Federal Government which her Husband K Rudd ran and is still running.
It turned out she owned a stack of these same agency's that were sending people to them for work. So, it didn't matter to her if these people were good or bad, or weather they lasted 13 weeks or not, the agency's sending them were getting paid by the Federal Government, in other words, us, the tax payer,run by her corrupt Husband, K Rudd. In the end she got caught out and had to sell her agency's. But she also owned some overseas ones too, so she kept them. It's impossible to answer the question in exact detail because the Feds change the rules all the time. Also, it didn't matter if you were sent to a job that you had no qualifications for, or how hard or how dedicated you were. The only thing the PM's wife was interested in was her Profit. If you knocked the job back because you simply couldn't do it, they would stop your Well fare and tell you live in the gutter. All these laws were the result of the previous Government(John Howard). In 2007 they were thrown out of power because of thoes same laws. By the time K rudd and the Labour Party got in there was pushing one million people out of work because the "Employer" started sacking everyone and replacing them with 13 week workers and sacking them after 13 weeks without any Compensation and getting more from Tressa's agency's and keeping them for another 13 weeks. Wayne, You would find anything amazing. You must stop taking that stuff. Rudds wife has corrected those problems and all is back on track. What about "Work Choices" from your Hero Johnny? You must be living on Mars not notice the complaints they have received. Are you a Manager of a small business. I suppose so as you prattle on as though Johnny is God.
