Christian Employment Agencies

Ricky Said:

What is the Christian but also the assertive way to treat this lady?

We Answered:

Tell her that she was correct when she said your friendship had run its course, and don't offer her any help. You're not obligated to help her, but she seems to think everyone has an obligation to do what she wants.

You could also just ignore the email. delete it, and don't bother responding to it. Helping her is only going to make you feel worse. You might feel a bit of guilt for not helping her, but when you examine that feeling, you'll realize that you don't owe her anything, and refusing to help was not wrong in any way.

Question on Religious Discrimination?

We Answered:

Religious discrimination? No. Harassment? Possibly.

Jobs for a 14-yr.-old Floridian girl in Palm Beach County (Boca)?

We Answered:

Check your child labor laws to see at what age you can legally work. Then pick a career you will be most satisfied with. You have too too many interests and are very confused. You are a typical teenager and don't know what to do with their life because they want everything all at once. Find one thing and stay with it, but make sure it is something you will put your heart and soul into. Otherwise you are just wasting time and getting no where.

Surviving Long Distance Relationship?

We Answered:

I am currently in a LDR, I am from the middle east, he is from the UK .... we've been dating for 5 months now, and i tell you .... it is not easy, but it is doable if you are in love.

God bless technology, you will be using a lot of it. Make sure u have an account on skype, and that u have a web cam ... u need to set certain dates and times that u will both commit to in order to talk to each other.

I have found this site quite helpful ... don't forget to check the sub links in there too.

Will being bisexual keep me from being hired at a private Christian college?

We Answered:

Yeah, he's right. "Christian college" covers a lot of territory. I know of at least a handful of so-called "christian" colleges that would ostracize you and reject your employment application out of hand and then probably have a guard escort you off of the campus! Among them, Bob Jones University in South Carolina, Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin and Liberty University in Lynchville VA. And I could probably name a few others if I thought for awhile. But these schools are all fundamentalist almost to the point of being radical. These people are very exclusionary and (to an outsider) often appear pretty stone age in their mind sets.

Even if they did hire you (and it's more likely than not that your past bisexual activities woudl not be discovered as most employers don't have the money to do deep screenings like this), the agreement you signed could lead to your abrupt discharge if your past were somehow discovered. If you're okay with "don't ask don't tell" (or at least "don't tell") and the job is just part time (that is, it's not going to be an important part of your resume) then that might not be a problem. But it ould at least lead to some stress if you did get fired. As long as you think you can handle that, go for it! Maybe you can enlighten a few neanderthals along the way, who knows?

Oh, one suggestion, though--you should get a copy of the school creed or behavioral code or whatever they call it just to see if they do exclude bisexuality in writing. If they don't, then you would at least have a basis for contesting any hire/fire decision your orientation might provoke.
