If you search thier web sites the is usualy a link to vacancies and for royal Caribbean you can actualy apply online. Also look up Cruise International (I think I've remembered it right, but try various permetations) on a search engine it is based in Glasgow and cost a couple of quid, but they send you a book that has job descriptions, all addresses for all the companies, stories from people working the ships, how to word CVs, likely questions at interviews and will send you every other month a list of current vacancies from all the companies.

The human resources department of the individual shipping lines would be a natural. They will know what the rules are regarding your passport and visa for such jobs. My guess is you need to have a clean record all around, but you may not have to get all that much documentation if you do not leave the ship in foreign ports. If you do, you will clearly need the permission of the country of the port. The shipping company will know what is required.

To be a reporter, the thing would be to go to work for a local newspaper that does a good bit of wire service news. They will want their best, most experienced reporters to do the foreign assignments, but some of the best will have had enough of traveling, so they need new ones, too. If you can go along as an assistant with a good senior reporter, you will learn the ropes. Again, all this depends on whether you can get a passport and visa for wherever you want to travel.

I do not see the point to an employment agency, unless the shipping office tells you they only work through an agency, in which case they will give you the name and address of the agency.

Of course, much depends on what skills you have to offer such an employer.

I would contact the Steiner Education Group..many of their massage, and facial students get employment on the cruise lines. You could also try contacting each of the Cruise Lines directly.

You need to go to the cruise line web sites. There you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. DO NOT use any other web sites that require you to pay a fee to register or get job information or referrals. Some cruise line sites may have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years.

Carnival is the parent company for several cruise lines including Carnival, Cunard, Princess, and Holland America. So contacting Carnival will likely get you leads to the other cruise lines also.

Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. These are the companies that hire the beauty shop/spa employees for ships. Below are links for you.
