Employment Agencies For Felons
Marcus Said:
i would like to know if a person with a felony and GED and skills cant find a job?We Answered:
Hi CarmenI was a manager at a company for five years, did the interview/training for new hires. You have to ask yourself, why would a company want to hire you?
If you know anyone that could write you a reference letter. Include that with a resume.
As for your record - when asked on paper write down "To Be Discussed At Interview". If it is not asked, don't volunteer it.
Check out opportunity's in a trade school - learning a trade. Also check out your employment office for job opportunity's.

Jimmy Said:
jobs for felons?We Answered:
Welcome to felon world, 2008! when I was seeking employment, nobody would hire me and I became very frustrated. then I found out about a place ran by the county. Ours is called the Business Workforce Center. They had a list of employers that would hire felons. I don't know if this is in every county, but you can check with the unemployment bureau for your state. Other than that, I know painters, construction workers, and masons usually hire off the street. Just be honest when they ask about your history and be sure to express how much you are sorry for what happend and that you've learned from past mistakes. They like hearing that. Best of luck to you!Sherri Said:
can you refuse a felon to fill out a job application? We Answered:
I don't think they can refuse an application (Unless they refuse EVERYONE an application). But they could simply throw the application away once the felon has filled it out.Arthur Said:
Husband, disabilities and Parole?We Answered:
even if an employer doesn't need a reasonto fire someone-if the reason is disability discrimination--that is illegal...what parole is saying doesn't make sense--can you talk to the officers supervisor
does it have to be on the books pay--can he be a day laborer with the illegal immigrants
it is hard for someone with bipolar to keep a job without support
you can try your state protection and advocacy office (in my state it is a joke--but i heard they actually help elsewhere
what about ACLU-its a long shot--but they do a lot with rights of convicts
don't count on EEOC if you are looking at employment discrimination--their own statistics show they do nothing--rubber stamp 90% as unfounded--even the 10% they rubberstamp as having cause don't seem to actually be investigated--as the final outcome conflicts with the EEOC determination
Elmer Said:
If I am denied employment based on criminal history, are they legally required to tell me the specific reason? We Answered:
Nope. They're not legally required to tell anyone why they've been turned down.So keep bugging the agency. They'll get so sick of hearing from you they'll take care of it just to get rid of you.
Or, better yet, contact your US Senator. I worked for a federal agency and when we heard from a senator, the case became a top priority. I'm sure it becomes top priority for everyone.
