Check the 10-point 30% vet. On a job that's open to the public, that automatically pushes you to the top of the list. On a job that's open to status candidates only, you would be put on the VRA cert, the VEOA cert (if you served for three years or more), the 30% disabled cert, and the transfer/reinstatement cert, so your name would be seen by the hiring official four different times. Both the VRA and the 30% disabled give you a shot at being non-competitively hired for a position for which you qualify, so you wouldn't have to apply through USA Jobs. You would merely have to learn of a position in which you are interested and present your resume and request for consideration to HR at that location. You would lose your permanent status for awhile, though, for two years for the VRA appt and at management discretion for the 30%. As far as waiving the time-in-grade for the 30% ... I hesitate to say anything about that until I find in print how it works, but I think it just works for the 30% appointment. I've never done a 30% appt, so haven't yet gotten intimate with the requirements.

Actually, once you have permanent status, the vet pref doesn't count for anything except for a few certain positions. Otherwise, it counts only to lessen your chances of being let go during a reduction-in-force.

I doubt that the people are jealous of you. Before you take all the trouble of moving, ask yourself if that will REALLY solve your problems.

If yes, then I'd say just move and try like crazy to get a job using online sources (monster, careerbuilder, etc.) or classifieds.

It is definitely a scam. Virgin Atlantic Airways do not offer jobs per e-mail, nor do they have an e-mail address with the ending ".cc" which stand for Cocos Island, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean.

Just read this information on Virgin Atlantic's homepage. I have just copied/pasted it since I am not sure whether the link works:

Being a disabled vet myself and having gone through the process of getting my service connected rating what I strongly suggest is contacting your local VSO and have him or her help you get what you deserve.
The VSO job is just that. Help you. My VSO was located at the nearest Veterans Hospital.You can also contact the DAV. Since I'm in California I only have the Cal. number. I figure you can call them to get a more local number 562-404-1266
