Employment Agencies In

Isaac Said:

How do employment agencies work? I saw an add in the paper for a position through an agency.?

We Answered:

That is pretty much how they work. They bring you in, take your info then expect you to call them every day to ask if they have any work for you. When they finally send you out on a job it could last anywhere from one day to a long term where the company may or may not eventually choose to offer you a job as an employee of the company rather working at their company as an employee of the agency.
It is a good way to get your foot in the door of some good companies but it also stinks if you need steady income and they only send you out on jobs that last a few days at a time with long times of not working in between.
Temp agencies normally do not offer benefits like paid holidays, vacation time and medical insurance if offered at all is usually very expensive.

Brandy Said:

What are some of the best temp/employment agencies in and around Dallas, TX?

We Answered:

When I was living in Texas I found that Manpower was great for me. Their service was free paid by the employer rather then employee. They had all types of positions from A to Z, white and blue color. Many of their positions can go from temp to perm as well which was great.
I ended up working 2 different temp positions in the computer field, then my third assignment I was offered a perm position by the company and took it while some friends I knew went to a employee paid service and ended up paying a big chunk of their salary to the company while they were working where I didn't pay anything. Good Luck.

Employment agencies using your credit report for a background check?

We Answered:

there is a great misconception that employers do "credit checks" for employment, that RARELY ever happens...
the reason for this misconception is that background checks are referred to by law as "consumer reports" and are covered by the "Fair Credit Reporting Act", you even sign the same FCRA release for a background check that you sign for a credit check......

if a credit report is pulled what an employer can see is:
your ability to budget, plan and execute that plan, your spending habits and lifestyle, how responsible you are in the repayment of debts which reflects on your general responsibility and fulfillment of commitments.
the employer could care less about your credit score and as i already stated very VERY few employers pull a credit report.........

Franklin Said:

Are employment agencies justified in giving pay decreases due to the "economy"? How does the economy effect?

We Answered:

Employment agencies are in the business of selling your labor to businesses that are willing to pay for it. With official unemployment rising, employment agencies have a much larger pool of potential labor to sell, with a smaller demand by businesses. They can afford to lose some labor by making an 8% cut, because there will be enough workers that stick around to fill the demand for labor by the businesses the employment agency services.

Addition: You can blame labor unions that these employment agencies even exist.
