Yes and No. I use to run an agency for many years. Yes most of the time they have jobs, BUT you may not qualify for these jobs, you maybe an engineer and they have an opening for an accountant.
So why do they keep wasting your time? Because the need a constant supply of resumes and interviews for when something comes in.
How to not wast too much of your time, ask a lot of specific questions when they call, have your question written and ready.
Where is the position? When do they intend on hiring? can they send you a detailed job description (not the generic one in the ad)? What kind of work? what kind of hours? whats the compensation range? You can ask who the client is but they may not tell you.
The more you can ask the easier it will be to weed out the waste. Also ask, is this for a position to fill now or is this something that might happen in a year. If it is legit they should answer honestly. I never brought people in without actual work, but not every client keep his promise to me to hire.

Well most jobs now days have contracts through employment agencies. I used to work for these temp. agencies until I talked to the manger and he told me how much the company was paying out to contract their employees. I was getting paid $10 an hr. the company was paying the employment agency $22 an hr. so I was receiving less than half of what the company was paying out. On top of that you still pay taxes out of what you make and it is even less. The reason why companies do this is so they do not have to pay employees benefits and forget it if you want to be hired on full time. Even if you are a good worker they will not take you on more often than not. As for fraudulent jobs they are just a lure to get people to be slaves for these companies. The companies that hire the employees win because they do not have to provide benefits and the employment agencies win because they profit from other peoples work so it's the person that just is trying to get by that suffers. But no one cares because that's what extreme capitalism has done to this country.

up an at em' !! maybe try some day labor , you get there early in the morning and if there's work you go out the same day and most pay the same day. When i done them up in NY I tried for resturant work most times you get a meal too. :)
PS: Most times its work for min. wage

Are you still Active? If you're not, you're not considered enlisted...you are a vet.
If you are looking for a job as a vet, try www.usajobs.com or look up job info on www.military.com , it offers links to vet-friendly employers.
You can also look up your cities website. Most cities have their own websites that offer government jobs, which can give you preference for being a vet.
