I feel for you man. But believe it or not, you are in the best situation you can be in. See, you have been trying to do everything on your own, without relying on God. Now is the time to lay all of your troubles on the table to God. I have been there and it is a very frustrating and then a humbling situation. I suggest that you fast for breakfast and for lunch. During your breakfast and lunch, spend this time praying to God. Give him your troubles. Talk to him as you would anybody else. Let Him know how much you are hurting and that you do not know what to do. Tell Him that you are giving all your troubles to Him. Remember, God knows your heart. If you give Him what you are feeling from the heart He will respond if you are truly sincere. Try this and see what happens. He has helped me in my times of trouble and He will help you if you really want Him too. Having to totally really on God is a good place to be. You will see.

I live in California, $25 per hour is waaay more than I get paid these days...yes, I am angry about illegal aliens...I do not blame them, I blame the US Federal government for allowing the illegal aliens to pour in and upset the balance. If the USA was a company, it would have been sued for negligence eons ago.

Anyway, things are really expensive here in California.

Temp agencies go where the work is. If you have called them and they don't have work in print or broadcast media...it's probably because there are no jobs available for that.

Future employers could care less if you worked for a temp agency or not. But they may wonder why you worked as a receptionist when you claim you want broadcast media.

But all temp agencies have the same process. 1st you submit your application. Then they will interview you if they believe that they can put you to work. After then interview they will compare you against the jobs that they have. If there is a match...they put you to work. If there is no match...you are in their searchable database for any future jobs that come up.

It's actually a great way for you to get a team of people trying to find you work. The best thing to do is to just sign up with every temp agency in town and then call each one of them once a week to let them know that you are still looking for work. If you don't call in weekly then they may think that you are no longer looking for work.

Is it stable? Well, it depends on the assignment. When you receive a call from a temp agency and they tell you about the job...ask them if this is just for a few days or is this temp to hire or a direct hire. Temp is just temp...just for a few days or less. Temp to hire means that you'll work 520 hours prior to hire at the customer site that you are working at (about 3 months). Direct hire means that you are hired on day one by the customer and the customer pays about %10 or so of your first annual salary to the temp agency (don't worry, you never pay anything).

So it's stable if you accept a stable position. It's up to you on what you accept from the agency. But all in all it's a great way to go and it allows you to network in ways that you never could alone.
