I was almost taken in by this "company". I first learned about them through CareerBuilder.com (a reputable site). They sent me an email letting me know that they had a potential job match for me, but there was one catch -- they needed me to check and verify that my "background information" was correct. It even provided a link in the email for me to do so.

I clicked on the link and it took me to creditreport.com (not sure about the reputability of this site). Anyway, they asked for my SSN, which is a big no-no for an unsolicited site!!! This made me search Google for instances of scams involving this company. The first result was from the site Rip-offReport.com. That's not a good sign.

Apparently, they are also asking for credit card information and charging $39.95 to your credit card without permission. This is a very common scam. In my opinion, the company seemed VERY SHADY!!! Do not trust it.

My advice is if you have any doubts about any company, no matter how trustworthy they may seem (or how good their website may look) always do a search for the company name followed by the word "scam." This will give you a good idea of if anyone has complained about the company in the past. Also check sites like RipoffReport.com. If you search the web and find nothing and still don't feel comfortable, there's nothing wrong with not patronizing the company.
