I am in the exact same position as you. Just graduated and can't even get a lousy retail job. I suggest that for now you should freelance, which is what I am doing now (try Odesk.com). Organize your portfolio, build an awesome website (more points if you can design it yourself without a template) and design your own flyers, posters, business cards and resume to promote yourself. You will have to spend real money on printing and get the more expensive papers to show that you know your stuff, so borrow money from a friend or your parents. Hit up craigslist and other job sites on a daily, even hourly basis.
