To make people Redundant (legally) they have to have a reason...

In this case, about the only reason that would be 'legal' is in that they are closing their Office (and thus no longer have anywhere for the Staff to be employed).... it's also possible that their Business is changing to such an extent that, in future, all their Staff will need to be part time or work on the Clients premises ..

Since your hours of work and a permanent place of work will be fundamental to your Contract of Employment, if the Office is closing (or everyone is going to be made part time), they have no choice but to make everyone Redundant ..


Needles to say, if you have no Union Rep. then your only come-back is the Employment Tribunals...

Depending what city and state you live in you can find some staffing agencies by looking in the yellow pages or google them. I am currently with Randstad staffing here in NYC when they got my resume from on line.

I would probably try to get ahold of some sales trainers, motivational speakers, and see if any of their staff is looking to make a move. It's not a matter of "stealing" a sales person. If a salesman is looking to make a move, word will get around OR the trainer might run into someone in their line of work that would work out and can refer them to you. I'm sure there are other avenue's that are available, but that's the first one that quickly comes to mind.
Good salespeople always want to help others. It's a quirky habit we develop.

My own experience with agencies has been very good, but you have to remember, they have a lot of power. So dress perfectly (never mind what the other slobs in the waiting room look like), and suck up like crazy. I have also worked for a staffing agency and it really is hard work. Make sure your resume is crystal clear because some of these people aren't super bright. If they find your resume confusing they will blame you. Also, make sure you are easy to reach by cell phone. Never turn down an interview or temp assignment, no matter how far the commute or ridiculous the job description. Another tip. Once you get a temp assignment, disregard that stupid rule about how if you're going to be absent or late, you notify the agency. No. They will hold that against you for life. Deal only with the company you're placed with. Good luck and be patient.

Some personnel consulting agencies do provide companies with temporary staff or personnel to fill positions others provide a service that companies use to evaluate and recommend people that would fit in to the company and would be reliable and well suited to the job. also they evaluate the companies staffing needs and structure of the organization of staff that is the most beneficial for the company.
