The short answer is "yes". However, you need to think about whether or not they can keep the fact that they have had your details and that you have had them removed.

The issue here, is that if they remove ALL your details then they will have no record of contact and so you may end up being contacted by them again in future - although I do understand you may wish them to!

Now, having said "yes" that is to your right to ask them to remove them. You have the right to ask them to stop processing your data for marketing purposes or if the processing is likely to cause you damage or distress. This means that they can be made to stop contacting you (offers of jobs constitutes marketing) but you cannot force them to completely remove all information, often for the reason listed above. Most companies though will remove most if not all details if requested.

I have used agents a lot and it's the agent you're dealing with that matters. Real jobs will be posted by several agents on jobserve. Check how specific the advert is, the more specific, the less chance they're just CV fishing. Ring them up and ask specific questions about the client and their requirement. If they can't send you a job spec, or send you a duff one, move on.
