Ana Said:

how does a teacher find a job in the US?

We Answered:

Every state in the US has different certification/education requirements. Some states require a masters degree while others only require a bachelors. There is also a certification test that must be passed before you are allowed in a classroom. In TX, for example, there are several certifications such as EC-4, 4-8, ESL, EC-12, ESL, etc. You can also become nationally certified which would allow you to work in any state. If you work at a private school you are not required to be certified because those schools are not regulated by the state.

I think your first step would be to choose where you would prefer to work. Then, you can go online and search for jobs within the districts you are interested in. Once you find a job you like, you apply and contact the school directly.

Dad is against me quitting my job to be a substitute teacher. What should I do?

We Answered:

If you really want to go for it then do it, your an adult and in charge of your life.
just explain to your dad how much it means to you and and that if he thinks your making a mistake then its your mistake to make and he has to let you live your life. Im sure the job will work out well for you, you sound very enthusiastic about it.

Meddlesome parent against me quitting my job to be substitute teacher. What should I do?

We Answered:

I answered your other inquiry and gave you the advice to try to do both until you found out how much much subbing you would get. Quit the scanner job and to steal the advice Sir Thomas More gave to Richard Rich in the play A Man for All Seasons - Be a teacher. You would be a good teacher. Perhaps a great one.

Call the person who calls for subs and tell them you are sorry you had to turn down the recent offers, but you won't any longer.

I am an Indian lady,48 yrs,B.A.,work experience as a Teacher and in H.R.My daughter is 22, A levels.Migrate?

We Answered:

With only a bachelor's degree, you are not qualified to teach in the US -- you need a master's & state certification. Furthermore, other than the occasional teacher exchange program through official organizations, schools in the US do not hire teachers from foreign countries on temporary work visas. With only A levels, your daughter is not qualified for any sort of work visa in the US either.

India is the only economy in the world which is still growing, and they doubtless need teachers. Your chances of finding a job in Europe, N. America, Caribbean countries, Australia, NZ, etc. are near nil. They are all looking for work, too. In the US, over 450,000 people per week are being laid off, and job losses are rising at the fastest rate since the Depression.
