Temp Agency Jobs

Stacey Said:

I have a few questions about temp agency jobs.?

We Answered:

They won't book you in advance until you successfully perform several jobs for them. Then they will trust you.
They just fill in for sick or pregnant or missing workers. The companies call them at the last minute.
I did not have much luck. I only needed to "temp' when the economy was bad. That was the time that business cut back on using temps so i sat around waiting for a call.
You might have a special skill that i didn't have. Try it..

Jerry Said:

If I'm working with a temp agency, do I still need to interview for jobs?

We Answered:

I work several jobs through a temp agency and some I interviewed for and some I didn't. I think it had to do with length of time they expect to keep you and the skills you are supposed to have coming in.

Allison Said:

How come it's hard to get office jobs at a temp agency?

We Answered:

After applying for the job through a tem-agency they will almost always call you in for an interview. A lot of people think just because they got called in for an interview there going to get the job. Not the case with temp-agencies. They will first test all of your skills, typing, Microsoft, Excel, Power-Point, etc. It you do really well on those tests, than they will send your resume onto the hiring manager for the particular job that you applied for. If the employer likes what they see, they will call the temp-agency and let them know that they are interested in you. The temp agency will call you up, set up an interview with you and the company to meet, the interview goes swell, you’ve just got a job. The temp-agency is like the third party. They get paid for finding the employer a competent person to do the job, and you a job. Temp-agency should only be used as a last resort, or seasonal work!

If you have not head back from the agency, it means that you did not score high enough on the test. I would recommend that you sharpen up on your office skills. Get a typing disk; take some computer courses at your local library.

The temp-agency is only going to send out the most qualified applicants to the job interviews, because that person reflects the agency. An employer doesn’t want an office assistant who knows nothing about the office!!

Andrea Said:

Why do my temp agency jobs keep ending so soon?

We Answered:

It may not be you. It could be that you finished what they needed, or may not have the funds to keep you going. If they hired you thru temp agency, it means they have to pay you and portion to the agency. That's more money than if they hire you directly.

Don't take it personal. I know it can be frustrating. You just have to keep at it until an opportunity comes your way. If you are looking for full time, keep applying for jobs as well. Just because you work for temp agency does not mean you should stop applying for jobs on your own.

Annie Said:

How to write a decent resume with lots of temp agency jobs?

We Answered:

There are resume formats other than chronological, for example ones that arrange your experience by categories of experience. If you stop by the local library and look at the books on resumes (I'm partial to "Resumes for Dummies") they will explain other ways of putting your resume together, and the pros and cons. Good luck!
