The specialty agencies for the type of work you do like account-temp is usually best. Otherwise register with 6 or 8. Call them every morning before 9 am. They will soon see you as a go-getter and think of you when they have a job that fits. If you get a long term assignment with another agency, let them know so they don't call you for something you can't accept. After awhile you will be able to weed some out, and see which agencies never seem get good jobs and stop calling them.

As long as you go to a temp agency in the city, you'll most likely be placed at a location that is accessible by public transportation. Kelly Services would be my #1 recommendation. They have a pretty good reputation for placing people in temporary positions.

I would put the name of the temp agency you worked for, assuming you fulfilled several placements through them. If you only did one two-week placement for them, then you may as well just list the actual company you worked at.

I also recommend for people with temping experience to list some of the major placements they worked at. For example:

ABC RECRUITMENT FIRM, City, State, 20XX-20XX

- Managed the busy reception desk at DEF Company for two weeks to provide vacation relief. Operated a 6-line phone system, routing calls to 95 employees in 6 different departments.

- Provided filing support to GHI Company for one week. Managed the document flow in a large filing room containing over 50,000 current and archived client files.
