i'm confused by the question. you don't get a contract of employment with a temp agency. the temp agency receives a request for filling a position from a company. the temp agency fills that request with a person. there can sometimes be no guarantee as to how long an assignment will last. sometimes things happen and it ends early ...or other things happen and it can be extended. it's all based on the circumstances surrounding the need for a temporary employee.

By definition anything like that can be called discrimination.

However there are only a few protected classes, the rest are legal. The protected classes are race, sex, age(40+), religion.
Criminal past, weight, etc are not protected and they are allowed to deny you employment.

Try asking them. If the person on the phone won't answer then ask to speak to the manager or director. If they're still evasive then screw 'em! Go somewhere else. Good Luck!

I have had the same thing happen to me twice. First company I worked for is no longer in existence and the man I reported to has died (worked there almost fourteen years). Then I worked for myself for twelve years before I closed my business down. For employment now I am able to give them the name of one person I worked with during my first job and the name of someone who reported to me when I owned my own business. Good luck!
