urine screens are very inexpensive and do not require a medical background to read them. these test screen from 3 to 5 common "drugs" and all you do is give the cup to the prospect and they pee in the cup.
the cups have a temperature reading so you know it is not a sample from someone else and the cup shows the results instantly.

simple, safe, inexpensive and effective for pre-employment screening, screening after a work accident or random testing.


EDIT:
in most instances charging the employee for the cost of a drug screen violates labor laws. you can pass the cost onto the client(work place/employer)

Your unemployment benefits are good for about 6 mos. By taking the assignment, you will not be able to collect unemployment insurance during the time you are employed, but you can re-start by re-filing after the assignment ends. This restarts the clock/calendar on your eligibility. Make sure the temporary agency pays you on a W-4/W-2 reporting basis. If they offer you a 1099, you are considered an independent contractor and the staffing agency does not pay into U/I. You may be better off refusing the temp. position if that happens. You do not have to accept a position that pays less than what you were earning.
