Temporary Work Agencies
Jorge Said:
How effective are temporary agencies in finding work for qualified individuals? We Answered:
It really depends. I have been in the position of being placed through a temp agency and also working at one finding jobs for people. When I worked through one, I had most of them work out great. But in those cases, I knew which position I wanted with them and made sure to tell them which it was. If you go in there with no experience and not knowing what you want, they won't find you anything. But if you do some research, like look at their website and see their openings before you go in, they will have an easier time placing you somewhere. Also, I would advise that you pick a field and stick to it, rather than jumping from medical to construction to clerical (for example). This shows commitment and they will know you are serious. Good luck.Lorraine Said:
Temporary work through employment agencies. What are the consequences of leaving the agency for the employer? We Answered:
If the company hired you through the temp agency, they know what the rules and ramifications are for hiring you as a regular employee. If they offer you the job, take it and let them deal with the employment agency. The agency is just protecting themselves from losing the revenue they get by having you work through their agency.Companies pay temp agencies for the employees that are hired as long as they are in temporary status. And, this is much cheaper than paying for all of your benefits as a regular employee. It's also a lot easier for them to dismiss you for any reason if either you don't work out or they just don't have the work for you any more. If they feel that they want you on as a regular employee, they can then invest that extra money in you (pay your benefits) along with your salary. And, they pay the temp agency a fee to let them out of their contract with the agency.
As far as you're concerned, there is no fee or penalty you have to pay. You just start working at the company as a regular employee.

need a list of temporary work agencies in coppell, texas? We Answered:
Most of the major agencies in the area have multiple offices. Most of the offices are based in Dallas or Fort Worth. Coppell is right inbetween. So here are a couple of suggestions to find an agency office in your area:1. Go to superpages.com and search for temporary employment agencies in Coppell. This link should help: http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listin…
2. Find the names of some of the major players here: http://www.businesspeek.com/management/t… and then follow their site links to determine if they have an office in your area. This is a good option, as you can check out the nature of the agency and how they work.
You'd think there would be a more direct means by which you could simply input Temporary Agencies into the search engine and voila! There they'd be. But I have personally discovered this not to be the case. The above methods, however, will get you the information you seek.
Best wishes on your career search!

How do temporary job agencies work?We Answered:
If you post your resume online they will most likely find you. But you can always go to them for assistance. I don't know any in the areas you requested but they basically find temporary positions for you usually in the job field of your choosing but at times will throw whatever they have onto you. Be mindful that if they introduce a position to you but you don't think it fits what you are looking for then say,"No." They may ask you to try to position and of course you can, but don't let them pressure you into it. They get paid when you work, they don't care if you like the job or not. After your time is up they find you another job or you get hired at the place you were temping. If you actually work at the temp agency then you basically jump from job to job and the temp agency is your employer. Hope this helps, good luck!Lucille Said:
Have you done temporary work for any of the agencies in London? We Answered:
I've worked for several temping agencies in London, although I now work in a permanent job.I found that temping was a good way to gain experience within different companies/industries, but it could be tough sometimes. If you are temping in central london you do get good rates of pay, but I found the travelling very tiring. Another problem can be the attitude of some companies. I worked for some great ones, but other ones don't treat you with that much respect & of course you aren't going to get the employee benefits that you would if you were a permanent member of staff.
Having said this I would recommend temping if you want to gain some experience but not be tied down to one company. I found when I was temping in London I was never short of contracts, and a majority were 3 month rather than just a week here or there. You also have to bear in mind being paid weekly in arrears can make paying bills etc a little difficult sometimes.

What agencies would help with finding temporary work overseas? We Answered:
Depends on what you're looking for. A good way to start is to type in the country and the position. If you find something you like but aren't sure about the quality of the company, as to speak to current AND past employees, along with a veritable record of thier employment. There are plenty of websites and recruiting companies (that may charge a fee) out there. There's just a little bit of legwork involved. If you do go through a recruiting company be aware that they may charge the company for thier services which can sometimes affect YOUR pay. Good luck!Ruth Said:
How do temporary agencies work?We Answered:
The temp agencies I worked for didn't charge me, rather, they charged the company "renting" me, so to speak. For instance, if you're getting paid $16 an hour through a temp agency, they are charging the company who's using you about $19 an hour or whatever they decide. That's how they make their money. As for firing you, if you do something totally out of line, I suppose. But, let's say you have an issue with a temporary assignment or had a heated conversation with the supervisor there, the temp agency would just give you a different assignment. Of course, if you continue blowing off, they'll just cut you.
As for the hours, the temp agency will provide you with potential assignments. Some are part-time, others are full-time. Some are two week assignments, others are 6 month assignments. The employer using the temp agency has already set forth what they want and if you don't fit the criteria regarding hours, skill and payscale, they'll give the assignment to someone else and you'll just be offered something different.
I work for the #1 corporate law firm in the state and it started out as a temporary assignment. They ended up hiring me permanently after the three month period. So, if a a temp agency offers you an assignment called "temp-to-permanent," take it.
Good luck!
