I agree, self-responsibility is key. However, until we stop letting the Governments over-tax and over-regulate us then they will control us for a very long times. But people are too typhlotic to buzzwords like "change" or "terrorism" so self-responsibility mean nothing to them.

Ron Paul is a great guide to this philosophy. In one town-hall meeting he had, he stated that he wants to be president so you can look after yourself. "The Constitution doesn't give me the authority to run the world."
