Workforce Employment Agency

Karen Said:

Do Employment Agencies aid or hinder the British worker?

We Answered:

Employment agencies can help those looking for work, not sure what the rest of your question is about.

Glenn Said:

what can i add to this essay?

We Answered:

uggg!
how about a paragraph for each subject?
remove the generality from your first sentence
The first sentence of a paragraph should say what will be described in that paragraph, so what is this paragraph about: the Internet, job seeking, the job market? all 3? something else?
where is thesis statement?
stay with objective facts, do not make subjective statements
Explain each technical word or phrase: what's a head hunter?
I'd prefer YOU did not use YOU, I'd prefer a bunch of different nouns: 'the job seeker' 'the prospect' ' a person searching for a job' - its more a point of style, count how many times you use YOU, it gets repetitive and boring quickly, also sounds like a command, not a statement
its not a bad, 2 or 3 tweaks and it will be much improved
its a great rough draft!!

How do I get a printout of my own job history?

We Answered:

Remember, people, Instant Magic probably remembers most (if not all) the *places* where he's been employed, but perhaps not all the *dates.* Who among you remembers all that if you've worked for 5-10 years and at a few different places? Some among us may have worked briefly at part-time jobs, and perhaps Instant Magic is one of them.

That said, I'm not sure where you could get that information. I get something from the Social Security Administration every year for tax purposes (I guess) - it's an outline of my annual income since I began working, and it projects how much I'll earn when I begin collecting SS benefits. Since they know *that* information, perhaps you could call them or the IRS. I have to think they'd have a record of all your employers because the IRS needs employer ID's to ensure W-2's and tax forms are fully accurate.

Good luck.

Re Employment at TDCJ?

We Answered:

Since you have resigned the chances of reemployment seems to be remote. But please put up an appeal stating the circumstances under which you resigned with a plea for reinstatement.

The type of complaint or workplace issue will determine which agency you go to. For example, in California, if you have a complaint of employment discrimination, (race, sex, disability), you can go either to the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) or to the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, (EEOC). Usually, it is preferable to file such a Complaint with DFEH since the discrimination protections of California law, especially on issues such as sexual orientation discrimination and disability discrimination are far broader than the federal law enforced by the EEOC. If you file a complaint with DFEH, you can automatically cross-file the same complaint with EEOC.
If the issue is the payment of wages, such as minimum wage, overtime, payment of commissions or any pay-related issue, go to the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, (DLSE), sometimes commonly referred to as the Labor Commissioner. If you want to sue an employer over a payment of wages issue, you should first send a letter to the Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Then after 30 days have passed you can file a lawsuit and seek additional penalties against the employer under the California Private Attorney General Act.

The Economic & Employment Enforcement Coalition is a special unit that focuses on the underground economy, -- sweat shops and other businesses that attempt to operate outside legal requirements.

You can file wage complaints with the United States Department of Labor, but usually in California, the DLSE will deal with the issue more quickly. On the other hand you need to go to the U.S. Department of Labor for such issues as veterans reemployment rights or issues concerning pensions.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is a U.S. government agency which deals exclusively with the right of employees to join unions or seek to have a union represent the employees at their workplace. The NLRB also deals with collective bargaining between employers and unions.

Each of these agencies have websites which have detailed information about what the agency does. Check out www.eeoc.gov, www.dol.gov, www.dles.ca.gov, www.labor.ca.gov, www.dfeh.ca.gov, www.nlrb.gov.

With offices in Irvine and Beverly Hills California, we handle all issues dealing with employment law, www.rjtlawfirm.com.
