Earl Said:

Psychology Opinion Help ASAP?

We Answered:

1. Psychological defenses can be helpful if a person is in a situation where he/she cannot exert his/her desired impulses and thus, has to release that energy some other time (e.g., you hate your teacher, but you can't really get angry at her without getting in trouble, so you repress your desires and perhaps displace the energy to someone else).

2. Similarly, if one repressed every emotion, one would have not released any psychological energy. If that occurs, according to most psychologists, eventually all that pent-up energy will be released in an uncontrolled manner, and that would be even worse if it was on some innocent target, like a friend.

3. Adler was a proponent of the Individual Theory, which stated that disorders were caused by too much feeling of Inferiority. As a young person, Roosevelt probably had an excess inferiority complex, but over his lifetime, he overcame that inferiority.

4. I've had really good ideas that came to my mind that were triggered by environmental cues. According to Jung, these environmental cues triggered the ideas that were already in my subconscious. If I'm writing a paper, sometimes I go for a walk and let the cues in the environment help with ideas.
