Careers And Training

Bobbie Said:

what kind of careers with good training programs?

We Answered:

My sister in law started with Enterprise Rent a Car about six years ago. They have a great management training program, where you learn every aspect of the business. She has done so well, she is now an Area Manager out in Vegas. So considering she started six years ago at the bottom, they provided her with tools she has needed to move up quickly.

The tools learned in this program are also transferable. The Police, Fire etc.. are highly respectable and teach teamwork, self defense etc.., but lets say ten years from now your brother wants to become an accountant. The skills learned in a corporate training program can take him many different places.

How long does it take to get in the army? From going to the careers office ? Selection and Phase 1 Training ?

We Answered:

you go there, fill out all paperwork, take the practice asvab to see if you will pass, if so they will give you some time to study and then go to MEPS to take the asvab test, and do all medical screenings, exercises, drug testing, etc. Depending on what you choose your MOS (Job) to be, depends on if you leave very soon or if you wait for a opening for what you want. My husband went in November to talk to a recruiter, he was only suppose to go to test and come back, but he ended up doing all medical stuff the next day, they asked him to stay again and he swore in and signed his contract. Now he picked 19k (tanker) so the position that was open is in March. He still has to get checked out once more the day before he leaves and he gets swore in for the last time. Everything you want done needs to be in you contract. **This is about all I know because this is as far as we are until he leaves for OSUT. I wish you luck and I am sure all situations are not the same.
