I am so confused, I dont know what to do?We Answered:
Health related work is a very broad area with many options. There are people that can help you narrow down those options to an area that focuses on your personal interests, preferences & strengths. Your college advisor can be very helpful. There are also questionaires that can be administered through your college &/or your local employment office. The questionaires are long & very thought provoking. Once they are evaluated, your academic &/or career counselor will go over the results with you. The results will be very interesting & eye-opening. Once you know where to focus your energies your choices will become clear for you. Good Luck!Jesus Said:

How hard (or easy) is it to find a career that EXACTLY fits your personality? We Answered:
The joint MSW/MPH is becoming a very popular degree especially in the policy advocacy area of any major health and Mental Health area (this can include infections - HIV, TB, etc; preventable - Diabetes, Heart Disease, etc.; degenerative - dialysis; progressive - MS, traumatic - TBI, paralysis; mental health - Schizophrenia, Bipoloar)Obviously -work can also include direct service on the various units in hospital and other settings.
You will want to look for schools that have both. You might look at the NASW site under the health initiative. DA

I am in college and am undecided on my career path. I would like to enter a health related career.... Help!?We Answered:
The good thing about the medical profession is that there are so many types of jobs that require varying levels of education, so there's a lot to choose from. I started out as a historian (just taking patient histories) and worked my way into transcription, which offers more money and the chance to use my writing skills -- lots of doctors, when they dictate, don't speak as one would write, so they depend on the transcriptionist to take what they say and rework it. Being a medical assistant will offer you the chance to work with people, and if you like doing that, you might continue your education (even while keeping your job) to become a nurse, a physician's assistant or a nurse practitioner. Since you especially like working with children, you could work in a pediatric office or hospital. Considering the fact that there are so many options, my opinion is that if you're in a medical assisting program right now, you should finish it and then get a job in a medical office or hospital before deciding if you want to do something different. By actually working in the field, you'll see firsthand what all of the jobs consist of and you'll get a better idea of just where you'd fit in. Best of luck!Ralph Said:

Get a job first and do Msc later. You will know for sure which field to go.
