Your best bet would be to finish school here and continue in medical school, do your internship and residency. Then if you want, join up with a humanitarian organization, like Physicians Without Borders, or any number of other groups, who do charitable work in deprived areas.

Mexico has a national health care system and I can assure you, you don't want to be part of it. Countries with socialized medicine often do not attract the "best of the best" into the medical schools because the salaries are controlled and the living is no better than many other professions. You don't want to get medical training there, either.

I've spent a good deal of time in South America, and I can assure you it is far worse than Mexico. My ex-pat friends who live there make regular treks to the U.S. for their medical and dental care. Medicine, equipment, facilities and trained personnel are all lacking. Some of the things that go on are shocking by U.S. standards.

Your best bet, to do the most good, is to get your degrees here, then see what opportunties there are.

Most people who go to medical school do not have parents who are "insanely rich." Most rely on grants, scholarships and student loans to finance their education. There are programs here in the U.S. where you can then work in underserved areas and have a portion of your debt forgiven for every year of service. The Peace Corps is an option, too.

I assume that you've vacationed in Mexico or gone on mission trips. The realities of living there are far different, so make sure you are well aware of them.

But like I said, the government is running the medical care program for the country and the government is known for graft and corruption. So you really need to do your research.

If you want to become a doctor, you certainly can. And once you are, you will find many, many ways to serve those who would otherwise do without decent medical care.

there is Medicaid and Medicare. But that said, I think that countries where they do have a national health program, it is not very good. It might be free, but the waiting and the care are not as good as in the US.

You get what you pay for, I guess you could say.
