Betty Said:

Will my past prevent me from a career in health/social care?

We Answered:

Generally not. Your past suicide attempt is just that. Past. But don't lie on the application. If the question regarding whether you have ever suffered from depression, etc., comes up, answer truthfully. Much better to be truthful than to try to deceive and be caught.

You'll do well. Hard times can make you a much stronger, more empathetic person. You'll have the opportunity to do good things for people who need you.

Very glad you weren't successful, btw.

Roy Said:

Careers in health and social sector without degree?

We Answered:

There are so many different areas you can work in. You could be a support worker for someone with severe learning disabilities working with them every day to get the most out of life. You could be a home carer looking after several elderly or infirm clients in their own homes helping them maintain a good standard of living. Or you could become a healthcare assistant in a hospital working to provide basic care for patients in a ward environment.

There are so many different roles out there, you just have to start in one area and see where you go from there. Good luck.

Justin Said:

What careers could I go into from studying Childcare, Health and social?? 10 points!!!?

We Answered:

I can only answer from the Childcare point of view

When you gain a relevant qualification in childcare, you can work in a childcare provision, which can be a nursery, run by the council, the private sector or the Voluntary sector

There are also opportunites to be a development officer, support worker
or the like, supporting childcare providers in an area

Also the NHS employ childcare qualified people to promote healthy eating, dental health and physical activities within nurseries.

To teach, you need to either have a B.Ed degree or subject degree, followed by a ine year Post Grad in Primary Education
