Health Career Quiz

Ethel Said:

Is there a quiz i can take that can really help me?

We Answered:

If you want to be famous you have to be able to sing at a professional level. The only way to tell if you are good enough is by working your way up to being assessed by a music exec somehow. But this might not be the thing to do. Bear in mind you will be making yourself vulnerable to criticism, and may be hurt by what you hear, if you really don't have what it takes. Maybe it is best to just sing with friends, or in a band, so you can enjoy the experience. You can still get famous this way remember, through getting gigs at good clubs and stuff. Have fun!

Which career is right?

We Answered:

There are career tests you can take but in the end you really need to figure it out for yourself. There are volunteer programs in the education field that you can take part in.

So you are in college and still don't have a major? What classes are you taking then?

Try taking some education classes to give you a good idea. Ask you school for career tests.

Education and health careers are always in demand. Trust me, educators don't pay well either. You need to think about why you are doing this-and it can't be for the money.

Working with disabled children will be a very demanding career and you really need to make sure it's something you can do.

Do you think I could get into this University?

We Answered:

Short Answer: YES
Long Answer: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Nothing against UT (hook'em horns!) but with that GPA and good extracurriculars you should be able to get into any state public university. Some universities make you apply not only to the school but also the specific department, so it is very smart to have your plan laid out already with your journalism classes. I think you'll be fine. Make sure you take the SAT or ACT as early as possible, and also make sure you apply as early as possible your senior year.

What you could be concerned about is scholarships. Out of state tuition is not cheap and so every little scholarship will help. Usually the university will provide some scholarships but there are also many national ones you can compete for. I would check fastweb.com to see if there are any that interest you. Making sure you keep up your good GPA and get good SAT scores will definitely help.

As a side note, don't waste your time with pre-calculus if you can help it. It might help you answer a few questions on your SATs but it may not be worth the time you'll have to put into it. I jumped from Trig to Calculus and didn't miss a beat.
