Health Communications Careers

Evelyn Said:

Which course in health does not require me to interact with people so much?

We Answered:

Communication skills are really required in every profession and to a large extend in the health sector. Even in medical billing/ coding you need to interact with clients and at some stage or the other; communication skills would be required ( say for instance after 3/4 years you be a manager/ team leader) so you can never escape from it. Try to develop your communication skills and have a + attitude.

Some health professions where there is less communication as compared to others are:

1- Researchers ( Like Systematic reviews, data analysis, data programmers, Health Service Researchers).

2- Statisticians

3- Designers ( Study design, Medical Biotechnology)

4- Any lab based work ( QC,QA)

5- Clinical Research ( Data Management and Clinical Trial Associate)

6- Medical Billing, Coding, Transcriptors

7- Epidemiologists

8- Health economists.

9-Public health workers.

10- Medical writing.

Some of these professions would require you to teach but you can opt out.

Dennis Said:

Which career in the Air Force has the best benefits and possibility of deployment?

We Answered:

Well the career options available to you will be based on how well you score on the ASVAB, as well as other things.

A-crew life support would be SERE specialist in the AF. Currently there is an enlistment bonus for this job. They do deploy and pull humanitarian missions.

Mental-health tech is available in the AF too but you won't be deploying much if at all in this field.

You can be a Radio troop or Comm troop but you don't really "help" people. Deployability rate will be determined by where you get stationed. If u are in a combat comm unit the likelihood of you deploying is high.

There is TV broadcasting but it's a special duty that you have to apply for once you are in for no less than 3 years.

Speak to a Recruiter and see what your options are. There are currently no jobs available that leave in August. People who are going through the process right now are booking jobs that leave later this year, early Jan 09.

Visit www.airforce.com or www.usmilitary.about.com to get more info on jobs. On the about site, just do a search for AF job descriptions. A list should pop-up.

If you put in for an overseas assignment you do have a chance of getting it but AF needs to come first. Just make sure you fill out your "dreamsheet" with your choices. You get 8 stateside and 8 overseas.

Edit: The poster below me has no idea what she is talking about. In the AF, your enlistment contract does not state where you will be stationed, you can't even write it in...so the only option you have is your dreamsheet and even with that you are never 100% guaranteed that you will get stationed where you want to be. I think she's thinking that the AF operates the same as the Army.

GOOD LUCK!!

Armando Said:

What does it mean if you have Money in Aries, Home in Gemini, Health in Leo, Communication in Taurus, ect?

We Answered:

These are your "houses''. Wherever your ascendant is starts off as number 1, which would have been Aries (on the traditional astrological wheel). For instance, people assume you are as sensitive as a pisces because 1 (your ascendant) indicates what people perceive first, when in reality you may not be as sensitive. So on and so forth. Research each sign and what the planets have to do with each...

Mark Said:

English or Communication major for a Journalism career?

We Answered:

Communications probably would work better, but let's stress this -- I'd think that your internships and your work would be a better indication of your abilities than your course load. Therefore, you shouldn't eliminate any job possibilities based on the transfer and associated problems.
