Vernon Said:

What jobs can you get with a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management?

We Answered:

I am not sure what your health information mgmt interests are, but as the previous person who replied indicated... you have many, many choices especially with the aging of the baby boomers.

Just for fun, I would like to share a website with you that may or may not interest you... but it discusses trends and the influence the baby boomers have on these trends, especially in the health & wellness fields. There is a short video called "Brilliant Compensation" you can view created by Dr. Charles King, a graduate of the Harvard Business School and Tim Sales, a very successful businessman. There is no cost, nor is this a spam site.

If you want more information about the material discussed, you can leave your contact info and I would be happy to share my story in the health & wellness field.

Good Luck!!

Jennifer Said:

Is it difficult to get Health Information Technology/coding jobs after graduation?

We Answered:

Based on my observations, RHIT certified coders have little problem securing employment in general. Finish the H.I.M. degree program and by all means get certified.

Judy Said:

Health Information Technology jobs have insurance coverage?

We Answered:

It's up to the employer.

Larry Said:

Does anyone know if Health Information Technicians get good jobs and make good money?

We Answered:

Without knowing where you're from, I can only speak from my personal knowledge. You can make very decent money (but you won't be rich) for the amount of time you spend in school. The standard program is about 2 years. In the Canadian province that I live in, those who are licensed with the province earn typically about $24 (range I have seen is $18-$26) per hour. Those who are not registered and/or who have a certificate will earn on the lower end of the scale. Those working within a health region will typically be unionized and earn more.

I would say that from what I know, most people in the field are happy with their job.

Good luck!
