Maureen Said:

What career ideas can you give me? I like medicine, health, nutrition, people, to make a difference...?

We Answered:

nutritionist is a happy mix of all those interests. you could work at a hospital analyze what a person's situation is (ex: diabetic) and work out a plan with them of the foods they need to eat with what medicines, etc.

Dorothy Said:

How to combine nutrition and maternal health interests?

We Answered:

How about maternal and child health nursing? Or maternal and child health at a school of public health?

Chris Said:

What can I do with an interest in Nutrition and Public Health?

We Answered:

You can work for your state health department as a registered dietician. Most health departments have a need for these in their medical clinics. They usually work closely with doctors in order to assess a patient's needs and then provide ongoing education through one-on-one appointments and group sessions.

Kudos to you for having a desire to do this. If you don't want to work for the health department, you may be able to join a practice that specializes in holistic health. Whatever you choose to do in this field, it should be very rewarding.

Eduardo Said:

What career paths can I pursue with a liberal arts degree with a minor of health science and nutrition?

We Answered:

It depends on your career goals. If you're minoring in nutrition to work in the field, please be aware that one should only consider schools of dietetics accredited by the American Dietetic Association: http://www.eatright.org/cade

Those that get training in dietetics are usually looking into as associate degree program for dietetic technician, registered (DTR) or registered dietitian (RD) in which one may need a master's degree.

For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'dietetic technicians', 'dietitians' or whatever other career that piques one's interest.

US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

(Someone mentioned occupational therapy and physical therapy, and just a word to the wise that the job may be physically as well as emotionally draining. Regarding psychology, most need a doctorate/Ph.D./Psy.D.)
