Hematologist and/or Health Careers Day in the Life?We Answered:
Lots of blood lab tests and studying the many factors of living and non-living agents in blood with relation to organs creating blood. As well, all the cells and their study and the different particles that may be present in blood. You should search about it online or visit a library to get one of the many books written on hematology.
Good Luck!

Allied health careers < MATURE ADULTS PLEASE>?We Answered:
Going to a physical school is better. You get handson experience, and also a chance to interact with people, which is important in healthcare. You have to be careful when choosing any school, and make sure that it is accredited. The Medical Assistant Program is growing, and there is a lot of competition out there, so why sell yourself short by going to an online class? Go to a well known school that offers this program, and you will be better off. Good luck in your future endeavors. Researching is always the smart thing to do.Mitchell Said:
I want to go into a health profession, but i'm not sure which one. What are some great health professions? We Answered:
Very much a matter of personal opinion but here's my story. I've worked in IT all my life. When I got to 27 I had a bad back. I didn't know much about chiropractic so I just went to my family doctor. He tried drugs for pain relief, then I ended up having surgery and physiotherapy. I was off work for months and it didn't get better. I found a local chiropractor and got better results with her in a few weeks than I did with a couple of years of conventional stuff. A neurosurgeon friend of mine said they rarely do decompressions now, and often send people to chiropractors instead. So, too late for me to really fix my problem, but I went for a big career change and I graduate (after 5 years) as a Chiropractor at the end of this year and will be able to help others try conservative options before they go under the knife.
This year, in student clinic, i've helped many people get their lives back. People who conventional medicine hasn't been able to help, people who may only have one minor biomechanical oddity, but it's enough to stop them sleeping, or keep them in pain all day long. Conventional medicine doesn't know how to treat these people, and chiropractors do. We're not miracle workers on a grand scale, and neither are conventional medics, but in both cases, when it's exactly what the patient needs, then it works wonders. For me, Chiropractic is closer to the patient, it's done with the hands, it's more therapeutic and more direct, it's less encumbered by "big business" in medicine, and it's a good career.
It's working out for me and I hope it works out for you too, but make sure you listen to the medics view of THEIR career, and not their view of mine. Sadly a few vocal medics don't say nice things about chiropractic, particularly the science. They're making two mistakes - firstly they're focussing on what only some chiropractors say, and secondly they're assuming conventional medicine is whiter than white.
To me, the holy trinity of health is Chiro, Sports Massage Therapy, Personal Training(i.e targetted/specific/smart exercise, good nutrition, muscle balance). Sometimes it seems like the more accepted holy trinity is drugs, surgery, and insurance....have a look which fits with you better.
Good luck to you, and keep an open mind. Sorry for the long answer - it's your career, I didn't want to take the question lightly ;)

Im exploring a health career, but which one should i choose? We Answered:
Ah, I cringe when one says which occupation makes more money. I would not put personal interests over someone's life. You need to do some thinking and volunteering to get a feel of what these jobs are like.
