I want to go to college for Health Promotion, but what can I do after I get a B.S degree? We Answered:
Some of the "pretend" jobs and "fake" places that Health Promotion folks work at include:Public Health/Social Services agencies as community health educator. That person that all the WIC etc. recipients have to go see to learn about selecting the right foods for their new baby, etc...
Clinical Settings - that person that runs the quit smoking, do more exercise, stretch your back, etc... classes in the hospital.
Doctor's offices - usually in Internal Medicine clinics. They drive diabetics insane with even more information about how everything we eat is bad for us and the only thing that can save us is goat meat. Some work for obstetricians and do childbirth classes. Some work for pediatricians and do breastfeeding classes.
Media - this is the journalist that tells us all about the latest and greatest new discoveries in health and how we can benefit from changing our behaviors such as eating fewer eggs - wait, I think eggs are ok again and bacon is bad, or is bacon good now too? I'll need to find a health educator.
Education - some get a teaching certificate and teach health in the public schools. Many community colleges have a whole division led by one of these people teaching in community continuing education.
Corporate - those companies that make and sell all sorts of health products hire health promotion grads to help write all of those ads, books, manuals, etc... that go with their healthy product. They'd rather hire doctors as writers but doctors are expensive - so they get health educators to come up with the material and get a doctor to sign it off.
NonProfits and NGO's - more than a few exist solely for the purpose of promoting health or a huge part of their mission is health promotion. Some have more than enough money to pay employees well too.
Government - our government sends a lot of these people around the world to make the world a better place. Check out the help wanteds at USAid for an example. Smaller levels of government send them into those poor communities to try to save them too.
Corporate - more than a few big companies, saddled with ever increasing health insurance premiums, hire a health promotion staff to reduce their costs. It's related to OSHA compliance and many health promotion folks work in the field of Health and Safety Regulatory Compliance for either companies or the government agencies that check on them.
Health clubs and athletic centers - 'nuf said.
Grad school - some go to grad school for an advanced degree and many become clinical dietitians if they're interested in human nutrition while others become professional educators.

Jobs for a health promotion major? We Answered:
Some of my friends that graduated with a bachelors in health promotion are now working at Planned Parenthood talking to teens about pregnancy and safe sex, at WIC teaching mothers how to take care of their babies, and at APS and CPS doing home evals. These are the same places in which they did their internships, and they started off with about a 30K salary. If you go for a masters, either a master in public health or a master in health promotion, they offer better pay, but in my opinion I would say the MPH is better.
