Health Science Career Cluster
Charles Said:
What should I be when I grow up?We Answered:
For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'biological scientists' (usually requires a doctorate to become a "scientist"), 'clinical laboratory technologists and technicians' or wahtever other career that piques one's interest.Perhaps your guidance counselor can administer a career placement test too.
With schooling, please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (may have 'bricks and mortar' buildings and may be 'accredited') such as penn foster, capella, university of phoenix, devry, ITT tech, sanford brown, everest, strayer, ashworth, kaplan, argosy, walden, ashwood, remington, ashford, colorado tech and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit' (and course credits may Not transfer to other schools): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.
For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
Perhaps you may consider volunteering at the local hospital as a junior volunteer (albeit it's usually non-direct patient care): http://www.volunteermatch.org

Electives for Ninth Grade! AAAAHHHH?We Answered:
Human Growth and Development is pretty much just health class...It is one of two health classes. The only difference between HGD and the other health class is that HGD has a section about sex ed.Health Science Tech is a program in which you learn about nursing and the medical feild. It focuses primarily on the anatomy of the human body. This is also a great class to take. (I am currently enrolled in that class.) If you want to go into the medical feild it would be a good idea to take this class, however it is usually not available until your junior year.
If you don't like the idea of Health Science, you can also take Sports Medicine if it is available at your school. This course is more focused on injuries and how to treat them. However, when you take Health Science your second year, you will be able to be licensed for your CNA (certified nurse's assistant.)
Hope this Helps! If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask! LOL
