Im trying to build my list of jobs before i go to MEPS and id like to get some personal opinions on these jobs?We Answered:
First, you need to decide what you want to do AFTER service prior to joining.May make the mistake of NOT planning ahead and end up with a "career skills" that's useless in the civilian world.
Second, think of the job requirements in the civilian world employment equivalent of that in the military.
Do the military require collage degree?; do they offer the degree/license necessary?(most all don't).
Joining the military "blind" is what the recruiters thrive on...like stores want impulse shoppers.
If military IS a 100% career choice for you, without a single doubt, than you need to decide what you want to do for at least the next 3~4 years.
You do have an opportunity to cross train after certain amount of time in service.
"ive been told by my recruiter if i sign 6 ill start out as e-2 and have a better chance of getting stationed at a base out of country if i say im willing to an extended duty station.." GOOD ONE!!!
Did he also tell you about the "private rooms they offer" and "you don't need a hair cut to join the USAF" too?
You have just a same "chance" of being stationed over seas as anyone, 4 or 6 years enlisted.
Yes, you will get the first stripe as a 6 year enlistee. You'll also get that same exact stripe after 6 months as a 4 year enlistee too.
So, do you want to spend the extra 2 years(after finding out you don't like it 6 months into enlistment) just to get that so important first stripe or wait 6 months to find out if the service is for you and get the stripe any way without the extra 2 years of misery?

A question about becoming an ultrasound sonographer? We Answered:
Hi BritneeLearning to be a diagnostic sonographer is a 2 year community college course. I suppose there are some 4-year programs that you might look at some day, but right now your goal should be locating a program and gaining admission.
Look at collegeboard.com and under college search put down 2-year public schools as your type of school and your home state for location. For major put diagnostic medical sonography. A list of schools that offer that program should pop up.
You might have to expand your search to neighboring states - if so, check with those schools admission offices to determine if they have reciprocity agreements with your local community college district.
