Virgil Said:

Hi, what is your profession, do you like it and how l ong did it take you to get there? I am THINKING of going

We Answered:

I am currently a MSW (Master of Social Work) student. You mentioned that you would possibly like to work in the mental health field, social work is probably your best option if you take that route. With social work you can work in just about any setting. The social work perspective is that everyone is interconnected. The psychology perspective is that you have a disease (mental illness) and we will work to cure you of it. The MSW degree takes 5 years total if you do it right, 4 years undergrad majoring in social work, and one year for a masters. For psychology, it takes 4 years undergrad, 3 in masters and more in doctoral work... i'm not sure how much, but the thought of doctoral work just scared me, so I never asked.
I hope that helps.

What are good jobs for the future?

We Answered:

Smoke Weed. You'll find what you really want to do after or during.
For Example: My friend didn't know what he wanted to do with his life either. He started smoking weed now he sells shirts and hats with funny logos and witty sayings like; "I'm a Douche-Fag!" or the ever so popular "Is there any Smegma left on my Man stick?!"
Try it, doesn't work, oh well no harm done!

Do interior designers get health care, dental, vision, and prescipition benefits?

We Answered:

If you are an employee in a large architecture/interior design firm (i.e. Hersch-Bedner, HOK, etc), you probably would, just like any other employee--these companies employee hundreds of designers & architects. If you worked in a smaller design firm, maybe (depending on if the principles provided it). If you are self-employed, than you get that yourself.

I know what fields I am interested in but I'm not sure how to (in any combination) combine them into a career?

We Answered:

Invest a few hundred dollars in a career/life coach. They will be able to set you on the right path and you won't have to waste any time trying to figure it out alone.

Jennifer Said:

What sort of 'creative' career is highest paying?

We Answered:

Some design careers can be pretty high paying, especially ones that integrate computer usage. Artists who become famous often sell their work for lots of money, but that is not a career to count on. Same with writers. Interior designers and architects do decently. Why not research some job roles, then look up salaries?

Willard Said:

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH MY LIFE/CAREER?

We Answered:

WOW

With the "I just want to make a lot of money" attitude you're not going to get anywhere in life, especially if a field of study DOES NOT interest you, then your going into the career for all the wrong reasons. If someone saw this and you applied to Medical School or even Optometry then they'd say "get the f*** out"

Yes I'm being an ****** right now, but this ****** is going to make sure that people who actually are interested in medicine and the well being of people in society and health care as a whole are successful. If i wanted to be rich I'd go into Business or Med School, but no, I care about actually helping people and health care that's why I'm planning on being an Emergency Medical Care Paramedic.

You still have the mentality which I out grew at the age of 15 LMAO...

GO INTO SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT, Now what your parents suggest.

And yes it's good that you realize your materialistic thinking and approach. By the way, if you go into Medicine and it doesn't interest you. Then you won't make it at all, I'm not even being discouraging right now.
