What jobs that are computer based in the medical field?

We Answered:

You need to make up your mind on what your major will be. Are you interested in being a doctor/nurse, or are you interested in computers? IT and software development depend mostly on the company you end up working for, and very rarely will you be lucky enough to get a job at the one software manufacturer working for a hospital. That being said, IT guys are needed everywhere, and if you can afford to wait for an opening, one may come available at a hospital. Your best bet for school would be information technology, database and networking.

Jobs in the medical field that do not require much communication skill?

We Answered:

You don't know much about anesthesiology, do you?

We talk to patients before and after surgery, and throughout regional anesthetics. We have to be able to communicate all day long with the surgical team, including surgeons, who are notoriously difficult to deal with.

We have to explain the risks and benefits of anesthesia to every patient you take care of, must address their concerns, and be able to comfort them in times of extreme stress.

We also have to communicate with the OR administrative staff with regard to getting cases done, especially when emergencies arise and the ORs are full.

Not much contact with patient? We sit by the patient ALL DAY LONG. Granted, most of them don't say much, but we really do get up close and personal with them all day, every day.

And we certainly DO go to medical school. Our residency is four years on top of that.

Keep looking. I don't think you are suited to a career as a physician. Maybe something in the research side of things?

Beatrice Said:

Can anyone give me their opinion and info on interesting or any jobs in the medical field?

We Answered:

Anesthesiologist because it's like a cushy job that takes precision. You have to inject the patient with an anestetic and it has to be the right amount for the patient so the patient will sleep throughout the whole surgery or whatever.
