Medical Assistant Degree

Kyle Said:

What could i advance after getting my medical assistant degree?

We Answered:

Well, if you already have an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting, you could apply some of those credits towards about any Bachelor Degree. There is no B.A. or B.S for Medical Assisting...that's as high as that goes.

Greg Said:

Should i transfer from my Medical Assistant degree to an LPN program?

We Answered:

If it is your dream then definitely go for it..things have a way of working out when you put forth a little effort.

Kyle Said:

Would a Medical Assistant degree be a good idea before getting my Nursing degree?

We Answered:

So you decided on nursing? Good, but do not waste your time getting a degree in Medical Assisting (or a certificate for that matter), if nursing is what you want to do. There are people posting questions on here all the time about taking the long way around to getting what they want. If you want a degree in Nursing, get the degree in Nursing! I can't think of one benefit to doing it the way you mentioned, unless you have a burning desire to work as a Medical Assistant (not to mention rack up more debt in student loans). Besides, you will be hard-pressed to work as a Medical Assistant and attend a BSN program. MA's usually work M-F, daytime hours in physician's offices, so that doesn't exactly work well with clinicals.

Why not go straight for the BSN at the school you want to attend? Seems a lot better than taking that long way around, wasting time and amassing debt on courses that are not needed for a BSN.
