Medical Assistant Program
Julio Said:
is the medical assistant program at ventura college any good?We Answered:
I have never heard of Ventura, but before paying any money to them I take a look at your local community college. The community college should have a good program also and the price should be around the same price range. The difference is that credits form the community college that you might take like anatomy and biology will transfer to a 4 year state run University if you ever decide to become a nurse. You can contact the advising department at your community college they should be able to tell you everything you need to know about the program and job placement after your course of study is over. I hope this helps you! Good luck with your studies!Jeanne Said:
Interested in signing up for the Medical Assistant Program? We Answered:
Well congrats on getting into something that's going to offer you great job security. The medical field will always be in high demand, and depending on where you end up working, the pay can be really good. I think what you'll be doing is well worth it, and you're going to find yourself satisfied with your life. The medical field is so vast in itself that I'm finding it very difficult as to what I want to specialize in once I get my Masters in nursing, but I've narrowed it down to three: A nurse anesthetist (the nurse who administers anesthesia and monitors patients in surgery), to work in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), or a wound nurse- those who assist in treating wounds that won't heal in diabetics and other ailments.
I'm not working as a medical assistant, but I've heard of the duties..and the list is long. When you sign up for the school maybe ask for a brochure on the field or do your own research on the internet. But I will warn you, the classes are very difficult depending on the school. I had a friend go through medical assistant training, and she went through a lot of frustration and struggles just to pass the course. But everyone is different and maybe you'll breeze right through it. I also think with you wanting to work with infants is so wonderful..you must love those little ones :)
I want to wish you the best, and I really hope you enjoy the program. I think you're doing something wonderful. The medical field in itself is very rewarding. Good luck :)

how long does it take to become a medical assistant program? We Answered:
Hello, I actually know somebody who is in the same situation as you and has elected to pursue a degree as a physician assistant (and starts school in less than a week!). I would contact programs that you are interested in and talk to them. PA programs typically take about 2 years to complete after getting a bachelors degree. It is very possible to go to school for less than 100,000 dollars. While this may seem like a lot, earning potential is much higher for physician assistants ($80,000) than nurses (i believe less than $50,000 a year). Medical assistants make approximately $15 an hour. For more information on physician assistants try www.aapa.org and www.physicianassistantforum.comHeidi Said:
Beginning Medical Assistant Program this week - should i take Phlebotomy training also?We Answered:
Yes, what alot of my class mates are doing is getting their Phlebotomy certification while they're also getting their Medical Assistant certification. That way, you can work as a phlebotomist for extra money while you're finishing your Med Assist.
