Medical Billing Training

Reputable home medical transcriptionist/billing training&Jobs? We Answered:
There are a few -- but most are scams. So many people want to work from home, and the number has probably triped or more because of the recession, that job seekers for this type probably outnumber the available jobs by 1,000 to 1. Don't count on getting a job like this. What I would suggest instead is looking for what skills he has which he could offer as his own business from home. Programming? Web design? Graphics work? Consulting? Marketing? The difference is, he would have to market himself and find his own work, instead of having his work and paycheck handed to him by someone else.

Where can i do online training for Medical billing and codeing? We Answered:
I would definitely suggest going to your local community, technical or vocational school. They are WAY less than the private for profit schools, they teach the same curriculum, their credits are transferable and most offer online classes. If you are set on an online only program, there are only 3 I'd recommend, either CareerStep or the online programs offered by AAPC and AHIMA.
Just an FYI, this field has quickly become over saturated with new grads and most employers are only hiring employees who have at least 2 years experience. When you read about coding shortages, they mostly mean there is a shortage of experienced and certified coders. So once you gain the necessary experience, there are usually a fair amount of jobs to chose from.
But until you get that experience, it can be hard to find a job. It is generally the advice to try to get a job elsewhere in HIM. If you can, try to find a HIM job in a hospital. That way you can gain experience and network. Most hospitals prefer to hire from within, so already being an employee will give you an advantage

If your community college doesn't offer it online, I would say go through the AAPC.Click on the tab that says Med Billing:

anyone out there know anything about allied medical billing online training school? We Answered:
Hello Mariaw,As a medical billing business owner I hire people that come from very diverse educational backgrounds and I try to treat them all the same. Unfortunately I have come to find through time and expense that those that I have hired from EU’s (Allied, Penn & Foster, and other online institutions) are far from being educated enough to do the job professionally without me having to extensively retrain them.
For those that don’t know what an EU is here’s an easy to understand definition:
“Educational Clearinghouses are schools or learning institutions that don't specialize in any one particular profession but instead teaches everything under the sun from accounting to zoology.”
Today all I hire is people that graduate from schools or training programs where they are taught by no one other than highly experienced medical billers, certified medical billing and coding specialist or successful medical billing business owners.
This ensures that I am hiring an individual that is more than qualified to do the job as proficiently as I do for my clients, is passionate about the subject of medical billing and is willing to expand upon that knowledge so they can educate my clients as things change, and most of all they have what it takes to run my business in my absence.
A lot of medical billing business owners would agree with me so just to show you that I am not alone in my assessment I am including the URL (below my name) to a home based medical billing business owner that takes the time to go further into the topic of choosing the proper online medical billing course.
