Medical Office Jobs

Dorothy Said:

Entry level office jobs in the medical field?

We Answered:

Just a word to the wise that there are ** NOT ** supposed to be too many jobs for medical coders (or medical billers or medical assistants) despite what those private overly priced For-profit tech schools proclaim. In order to possibly get a job as a coder, the employer usually prefers certification(s) in the field, completion of an accredited program in coding, a few years experience doing coding tasks and some job sites would like someone with an associate degree in health information (used to be referred to as "medical records") technology.

If you're still interested in the field, please forgo those private $$ for-profit tech schools such as penn foster, ashworth, devry, ITT tech, strayer, everest, capella, anthem, heald, sanford brown, aiu, colorado tech, ashford, pima institute, brown mackie, westwood, keiser, walden, university of phoenix, kaplan and others as they are merely out to "make a profit" (** and course credits may NOT transfer to other schools as opposed to how the local community college credits may).

These consumer sites have negative posts by former students about those private overpriced for-profit tech schools, and please heed the students' warnings:

If you really want to take that course of study, please consider the more affordable and usually more regulated local Community College (or County Vocational school) as long as the program is accredited within the industry.

Perhaps you can look for jobs while in high school with the title "office assistant", "file clerk", "receptionist" or such.
