Eric Said:

How to become a sonographer (ultrasound) in the NHS uk?

We Answered:

Your sister needs to take a Radiology degree. This will allow her to work as an ultrasound tech, or an x-ray tech along with other hospital imaging jobs.

Lots of uni's offer a BSc in Radiology and they take about 3 years. Have a look on UCAS and search by subject. This is the link:

Hope that helps

Boob job on the NHS - UK Residents only?

We Answered:

Yes you would be eligible.

If you can convince your GP that it is affecting you pyschologically, then you should have no problem.

I know someone who has had implants & convinced her GP to get them free - yours is a more worthy cause.

Well done on the weight loss.

Good luck.

Tanya Said:

Can American move to UK, get menial job, then work permit and free NHS healthcare?

We Answered:

For Tier 1 you need a minimum of a Masters degree and to have earned the equivalent of £20,000 in a consecutive 12 month period during the 15 months prior to applying to qualify. This is a points based visa so age is also taken into account.

You could apply for a Tier 2 visa if you can find an employer willing to sponsor you who is licenced by the Home Office to offer employment to workers from outside the EEA, and your occupation is on the Shortage Occupation list, such as maths or science teachers and critical care nurses, so an employer could employ you without satisfying the Resident Market Test and you will not have to pass a points based assessment although these jobs do have a minimum qualification standard.

Any other form of sponsored employment, where the resident market test is applied is highly unlikely to be viable at the moment due to the rising unemployment rate and job loss figures in the UK. This means six weeks advertising the post extensively through national and trade press as well a Job Centres and satisfying the authorities that you are the best qualified applicant.

It is impossible to get a work visa for an unskilled job. These types of jobs come under Tier 3 visas and these were suspended last year.

You would qualify for free NHS Healthcare provided you are legally resident and actually working in the country at the time of your treatment. If you hold a work permit but were unemployed, you would not be exempt from charges. On a visitors visa, you are only entitled to emergency treatment in an Accident and Emergency department, any further treatment or surgery would be charged.
